6 Degrees S01E02: Emotional Rollercoaster

Ellen, Victor, and Zoe arrive at Ellen's apartment later that day.
Ellen: So, here we are.
Zoe: Oh wow, your apartment looks very homey! Mine barely has any furniture in it, and I’ve been living there for 6 months!
Ellen: Why don’t you have furniture?
Zoe: I’m a writer for Style Lux magazine, so I travel to fashion events a lot. I’m hardly ever home, and when I am in town, I’m usually staying with my aunt.
Ellen: Oh cool! Do you get to meet a lot of celebrities?
Zoe: Umm, well, no. I mean not yet! I’m only a junior writer, so most of the stuff I cover isn’t all that great, but I did get a chance to go to New York Fashion week! And I met Francesca Vilaro, the president of Style Lux, and when she found out I was a writer for her magazine, she let me hang out with her during the fashion awards!
Ellen: Seriously!? You met Francesca Vilaro!!! Is she as gorgeous in person as she is on TV? I heard she’s been gaining a ton of weight though.
Zoe: OMG, she is gorgeous! And she knows everyone ever!! When I saw her she was thin, but my boss says she has gained weight since then. She’s so high up, most of the staff never see her in person. She seemed very nice, though.
Ellen: I heard she nice to most people, but the people who work under her know better than miss a deadline. Did you meet Eva Ramirez too?
Zoe: No, I don’t think she was there. But then again I heard there has been bad blood between her and Francesca since she left Style Lux to join Chic Chic magazine.
Ellen: “'Cause baby now we got bad blood, you know it used to be mad love”

Ellen and Zoe laugh.

Victor: Really? Why I am still here? I’m starved. Do you guys have any food?
Ellen: That’s what you get for not eating earlier. We haven’t been grocery shopping, so I doubt if there is anything besides Neve’s instant ramen.
Victor: I’ll take a look. Being in the kitchen making ramen is still a thousand times better than being in here for karaoke night.
Vick heads off to make a make instant ramen, a staple of all 20-somethings

Zoe: So I guess Vick’s not too excited about his brother getting married, huh?
Ellen: Well, they have always been very close. And Vick feels that besides his brother and me, no one else understands him. So he’s pretty hurt that his brother was dating and didn’t even tell him.
Zoe: I bet! It was a shock for me too. Auntie is the only family I have in this country. I used to visit her during the summer, and sometimes she would take me on her expeditions and lectures! It was super fun to see whales and stuff up close!
Ellen: That’s right! Vick said your aunt was an oceanographer.
Zoe: Uh, well she’s actually a marine biologist. She even sponsored my visa and let me live with her before I got the job at Style Lux. I don't know what I would do without her!

Ellen: Wow! I guess it will be tough when she moves to California then.
Zoe: Move to California!?!
Ellen: Oh, um maybe I shouldn’t have said anything. Well, Guy told Vick that once they’re married, they’re moving to California. I think they are planning on having the wedding there too.
Zoe: California! California! That’s on the other side of the country!!!! How could aunty abandon me like that!! Why didn’t she tell me!!!!

Zoe begins to cry hysterically

Ellen: Calm down, Zoe. Let’s go to the bathroom so you can wipe your face.

Ellen leads Zoe to the bathroom, and then lets her cry it out. Finally, Zoe is composed enough to talk.
Zoe: Oh Ellen, I’m so embarrassed. I just cried all over the place! And not just a few tears either! But messy, crocodile tears, with snot and-
Ellen: Wuh, TMI.  It’s alright, Zoe. I can’t say I understand since I voluntarily left my family in Georgia, but I can imagine how hard this must be since most of your family is in another country.
Zoe: But why didn’t aunty tell me.
Ellen: Well, things are moving so fast with Guy and your aunt that maybe she forgot or didn’t want to bombard you with too much news at once. I’m sure she has a good reason.
Zoe: I guess so.
The contemplative silence is suddenly broken by Victor’s yelling.
Victor: IT’S NOT PINK, IT’S FUSCHIA!!!!
Ellen: I’d better see what’s going on. You can come out when you're ready.
Zoe: Thanks Ellen!

Victor: Why do people keep calling this shirt pink? Don’t you know your colors?
Neve: Alright, alright! Calm down! I was only saying that it was a nice pink shirt. Real men wear pink, so it’s like I’m saying you’re manly! He he!

Ellen: What’s all this yelling about?
Neve: Girl, your boyfriend just flew off the handle!
Victor: She said my shirt was pink!
Neve: I was just trying to give you a compliment!
Ellen: Neve, it’s been a rough day for all of us.
Neve: Oh yeah! How did meeting that chick go.
Victor: Hmph
Ellen: Um, well...okay. Her niece is in the bathroom.
Neve: Here? In our bathroom?
Victor: No, someone else's. Ell just thought it would be relevant to let you know.
Neve: Considering how things went for you today, I’ma'let that slide. How long is she going to be in there? I have to pee real bad.
Victor: Way too much information.

At that moment Zoe comes out of the bathroom.
Ellen: Zoe, this is my roommate Neve. Neve, this is Zoe.
Neve: Nice to meet you, but I have to pee. Be right back!
Zoe: Uh..Nice to meet you too!

Victor: That ramen did absolutely nothing! I’m still starving!
Ellen: I told you you should have eaten! Why don’t you order something?
Victor: Yeah, I’ll order a pizza, then.
Ellen: Great! Thanks for offering. So I think we’ll need two large pizzas and a 2 Liter Coke or something.
Victor: Wait, did I just get suckered into buying pizza for everyone?
Ellen: Yes, but if it makes you feel any better, you did suggest getting pizza on your own.

Ellen: Zoe, is your dress from Sakura Dreams?
Zoe: OMG! Yes it is! Do you shop there too!
Ellen: I love their hime clothes, but I’m too self conscious to actually buy any.
The girls chat about clothes while Victor orders the pizza, and then plays Candy Crush to block out all the girly chatter.
